Best California Beaches – Yes, We’ve Thought of Everyone’s Needs

California is one of the most visited states, and that isn’t for no reason either, it has some of the most well known, bougie beaches in the States. There’s only one issue, not everyone is looking for the same thing, so to help you, we compiled a list of the bet beaches in California, suited for everyone’s needs. Still if you’re not sure that Cali is the place for you, check out our post of the best beaches along the West Coast.

Coronado Beach – San Diego

Wide, sparkling, and family-friendly, Coronado Beach sits in front of the iconic Hotel del Coronado. Its mica-filled sand(a naturally occurring mineral that is nice, colorful and shiny) literally glistens in the sun, and the calm waves make it great for wading and sandcastle building. It’s laid-back and elegant at the same time, a perfect mix for a classic beach day, with or without the kids, truly an all-rounder, a cult classic.

Manhattan Beach – Los Angeles Area

Another cult classic, this is a very typical beach but with more entertainment focus, especially in the sports department. It’s clean, stylish, and surrounded by cool boutiques and cafés. Watch the surfers from the pier, bike along The Strand, or just relax on the sand. It’s a favorite for LA locals, especially if you’re into beach volleyball. I’d recommend the place if you like beach sports (volleyball, surf, biking, running) or want a quick, accessible place for a girls trip.

Baker Beach – San Francisco

Beloved by picturesque-place enthusiasts because this beach delivers the ultimate view of the Golden Gate Bridge, especially at sunset. It’s not great for swimming (cold water and strong currents), but the setting is iconic. Bring a blanket, a camera, and a picnic, and take in the foggy magic of the Bay. Just a heads up, the northern end is clothing-optional, but hey, might be just what you were looking for. I’d pick this place for those who don’t plan on swimming and who want an easy-access, but unconventional experience. If you’d like to see more amazing beaches along the West Pacific coast, look no further.

Carmel Beach – Carmel-by-the-Sea

Another beach where swimming isn’t recommended, ocean coasts, unlike continental sea coasts, are less swimmable due to strong currents and riptides, but even with inadvisable swimming, a little knee deep walk and some shoreplay is the perfect activity for this dreamy place. Just south of Monterey, Carmel Beach is truly as dreamy as the town it borders. Expect soft white sand, dramatic cypress trees, and surf-worthy waves. Dogs are allowed off-leash, locals are friendly, and sunsets here are breathtaking. It’s a must for couples or solo travelers looking for a quiet, upscale escape, surfers during winter and beach lovers year-round.

Moonstone Beach – Cambria

Being halfway between LA and San Francisco, this Central Coast gem although not as accessible big city distance wise, is known for its tranquil vibes and polished moonstones along the shore. The beach is more about nature walks and coastal beauty than swimming, and the boardwalk offers gorgeous views. Perfect for those doing a slower road trip or wanting something off the beaten path. Though you might laugh at me for this, I can safely say that shell and rock hunting are some of my favourite beach activities since I’m a tactile person and all, this is like a dream come true for the nature lover and stone picker person, one of the best California beaches in my humble opinion.

Thank you for giving us the time of day, we hope you found the best beach in California for you, and we hope we’ll see you over on Instagram.
