What is the best place for women to travel to in Europe, you ask? Well, compared to other places, anywhere in the EU is considered very safe, but for extra peace of mind, or maybe for a beginner traveler, you might want to stick around and read which are the safest places for you.

Finland – Heaven IS a Place on Earth Without You (Introvert’s Paradise)
Everything here runs smoother than bare legs after shaving. Trams glide through Helsinki like clockwork, and even strangers respect your bubble (no joke, that’s Nordic culture for ya, an introvert’s heaven, that’s for sure). The forests, saunas, and islands are IT for recharging without feeling like a target. If you want quiet peace with zero stress, Finland delivers.
Safety fact: Finland ranks 1st in Europe for women feeling safe walking alone at night.
2 Nordic countries make the list, so if you’re interested, read our article about which Nordic country is actually the best to visit, especially as a woman in Europe.
Denmark – The Good, The Cold and The Sexy Scandinavia
Yes, I’ll cut it out with the Nordic countries, otherwise I’d just make a list full of them, because to be very clear, wherever in the north you are, girl, you are safe. Copenhagen feels more like a lifestyle magazine than a city. Solo biking is the norm, street harassment is nearly non-existent, and locals mind their own business in the most respectful way. Public transport is pristine and English is widely spoken. Safety fact: Denmark ranks among the safest EU countries based on violent crime and personal safety perception.
Estonia – The Forgotten North East
If you like medieval cities with modern Wi-Fi, Estonia’s your place. Tallinn, the capital, is straight out of a fairy tale but with better coffee, allegedly, and free public internet almost everywhere, if you ask kindly and perhaps use a VPN for peace of mind. Solo exploring here feels calm, digital-friendly, and free from street-level tension. Locals aren’t overly chatty, but they’re respectful, and the whole country runs like a low-key college startup in a forest. Safety fact: Citizens and travelers report one of the lowest crime rates on the entire continent, behind places like the Isle of Man and Andorra.
Monaco – Come On, What Did You Expect
Technically, it’s not in the EU, but it borders France and feels like it runs on security cameras and wealth. Everything is clean, walkable, and under watch—seriously, crime here is almost a statistical myth. You’ll see more luxury cars than sketchy people, unless rich trust fund citizens are sketchy to you. Solo travelers can wander the harbor, the old town, or the casino area without a second thought, but I do recommend that second thought when thinking of going to gamble in the casinos rather than visit them. Safety fact: Really high police to regular resident ratio, and also, gambling in the casinos is illegal for the Monegasque people, so you won’t see angry locals, kudos Monaco.
Slovenia – Balkan Introduction Via Western Style
Eastern Europe is my home, the Balkans are a special place for me and Slovenia is quite the bridge between the traditionally catholic-european west that rings with a bit of Balkan charm. If you’ve never visited the East, this might get you a taste of it without spending the dime to travel there just yet, or at least brief you on what’s further ahead. Now when it comes to safety, it’s not far from number one on paper, and in reality, it is actually one of the calmest, kindest countries you’ll land in. Ljubljana(the capital, yes that actually matters in Europe where rural areas are a real thing) is tidy and walkable, Lake Bled looks like a postcard, and even rural towns feel safe for solo explorers. Everything is just… chill. Safety fact: Slovenia has one of the lowest theft and violent crime rates in the EU
