Everyone is missing SOMETHING, they probably don’t even have blister bandages at home, but you have them in your bag on the ready. Here’s what to pack for your group of overgrown toddlers, designated driver needers, and crying baboons as their mom friend.
The Catch-All “Oh No” Pouch
It contains: blister pads, safety pins, mini sewing kit, stain wipes, clippers, hair ties, eye drops, ear plugs, pads/tampons (although no one’s due), and a tide pen. When you’re having dinner and someone either breaks a heel, has a nosebleed, or tears their pants, you zip this open like a damn magician. You’ll be thanked and naturally become more responsible, not to mention you can travel worry free since you’ve got all bases covered.
Travel-Sized Pharmacy
Or maybe not all bases covered just yet since you still haven’t packed your mini pharmacy. Bring antihistamines, anti-nausea tabs, antacids, melatonin, cold meds, ibuprofen, and a backup of someone’s prescription just in case they forgot it. Because they will. Some lozenges for everyone’s sore throat would also be appreciated, buy in bulk.
A Mini Toolkit or Multi-Tool
Buy one of these from Amazon or wherever you shop from. You know one of those keychain-like doohickeys that you can use as a backpack zipper accessory that has a corkscrew, bottle opener, screwdriver and other such tools neatly arranged into a small collapsible form. This is for the time your friend buys a glass bottle of Coke without thinking of how to open it, or for the time you knock a guitar off of the lodging’s wall and have to put a screw into the wall to hold up the broken guitar. Useful and lasts a lifetime, it’s also always on you.
One Seemingly Useless Item That Becomes Legendary
A foldable duffel bag for spontaneous shopping? A pack of Uno cards? A compact lint roller? You don’t know why you packed it, but it becomes the thing the group uses daily and they won’t stop thanking you. Seriously, don’t underestimate the power of a random scented candle for the weirdly smelling lodging or the few Dark Stories cards brought for when phones are charging, running low on batteries, or for when the mood is just right.
